This is a question many homeschooling parents have to face at the beginning of their adventure. It becomes even more acute when you decided to home school because your children did not do well in school.
Then the ugly dragon of long-forgotten Math Tests rears its head and scares the parent. Should you put your child through those dreaded tests? Tests you would dearly love to never, ever see again!
It’s up to you! I am a Math Tutor. But you are the Expert. Because you know your child.
So, take heart and give it a try.
There are free Placement Tests (for Language Arts and Math) that you can find at https://www.aophomeschooling.com/diagnostic-tests
If you could use a more comprehensive testing method, there is a five-subject Placement Test from Alpha Omega Publications (a Christian publisher) at https://www.aophomeschooling.com/product/12sosdt
The only time I would really advice against placement testing is in the case of intense anxiety related to either recent school tests or previous anxiety attacks.
Note: Do not allow your child to take these tests alone. It is very important to observe his reaction to the material, especially the stumbling blocks!
