Game night reminds me of my sister-in-law. And I miss her terribly. Her and her husband moved to Colorado from Illinois.
Every time I miss her, I tend to think of the times we spent talking, cooking, eating and… talking some more.
Here is a recipe we both copied from her Mom’s old Betty Crocker Cookbook.
Mom’s Sloppy Joes
1 lb. ground beef;
1 onion, diced;
1 pepper, diced;
3/4 cups ketchup (GF);
2 tbsp. prepared mustard (French’s is GF);
2 tsp. cider vinegar;
2 tbsp. brown sugar.
- Brown the meat in a skilled and drain the fat.
- Mix ketchup, mustard, vinegar and sugar in a small bowl.
- Add all the ingredients to a crock-pot. Cook on low for 4-5 hours.
- Serve on a GF bun topped with a warmed hot dog (GF). GF bun are sold at Trader Joes or Fruitful Yield.
Go White Sox!!!
